In September 2007, Corbets Tey School gained Specialist Status for Communication and Interaction and successfully re-designated in 2010. This enabled us to develop our Language work both internally for our own pupils and externally for Mainstream Schools and other partners. We spent our ‘Capital Build’ allocation on a new wing which provides a Language Resource and Advice Centre, Training room and Partnership offices on the first floor.

Resources and Advice
The Language Resource and Advice Centre is open every Thursday afternoon to all Havering schools and pre-school settings during the school term every Thursday afternoon in term-time from 1.15pm to 5.00pm. Drop in for support, advice for specific children or to borrow resources for your school.
An Advisory Teacher and Communication & Interaction Education Advisor will be available each week to offer advice and support with implementing Speech and Language report recommendations.
In addition, resources are available for you to borrow from the centre free of charge for use in your school or setting. We have a wide range of resources that will assist in the delivery of Speech and Language programmes for pupils in all Key Stages including the under fives. These resources are free for schools to borrow to assist in the delivery of Speech, Language and Communication Programmes. We aim to be as user friendly as possible and therefore have technology based Language support resources e.g. Black Sheep Press, Symbols and Clicker as well as resource making equipment such as printers and laminators for your use. Resources are added to and expanded in line with schools’ needs, so please come along and let us know how we can support you.
