John's Journey

John attended Corbets Tey School from the age of eleven and moved on five years later aged sixteen in 2002.

He moved on to attend the Quarles Campus of Havering College. Here he was offered a place on the Rose project, which aimed to secure paid work placements for students with learning difficulties.

In 2008 John was supported by the Rose Project in developing his work skills and then to secure a job back at Corbets Tey School, assisting the site manager.

He was supported, at first by the job coach and then by our site manager Dave, in learning to carry out site duties until he felt confident in his new role. He now takes responsibility for a list of site tasks and he carries these out independently and diligently.

As a result of all of his hard work and determination John has become an asset to the school and carries out his duties to the best of his ability. He is a reliable and sociable member of staff and he always greets other staff professionally and confidently always remembering everyone’s name and more importantly what football team they support!

Corbets Tey School Reunion

The school organises school reunions every few years to ensure the links between the school and its students remains strong. Leavers usually from the previous 10 years are invited to the school to party and catch up with old friends and staff.

Parents and Friends Association Committee Activity

Corbets Tey School has long counted itself lucky to enjoy the support of an extremely active Parents/Friends Association. The school benefits from an active parental and independent volunteer involvement in both the running of the PFA and assisting in many ways around the school. The school is extremely grateful for this support and hopes it will long continue.

The PFA is a registered charity (number 289742) and its main objective is to advance the education of the pupils of the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, not normally provided by the local education authority. The PFA’s activities include organising fundraising events such as golf days, raffles, sponsored events and gaining support from charitable and grant giving organisations.

Various social functions take place at throughout the year, organised by members of the PFA such as live bands, tribute bands, discos, etc. These events usually attract many parents, friends and staff who, as well as raising funds for the school, have a really great time.

All parents automatically become members of the PFA. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the activities of the Parents and Friends Association, this would be extremely appreciated.
